Mallnitz - Hike Austria's Alpine Secret
The village is nestled within Austria’s Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest national park in Central Europe (1800 square miles). You are surrounded on all sides by impressive mountain peaks and the largest glaciers in the Eastern Alps. The scent and feeling of “freshness” is everywhere – in pure crisp air, a sky for stargazers, clear water streams teeming with trout, and roaring waterfalls that fall into pristine meadow lakes. In Mallnitz, there are only 1,200 residents year round and the horses roam free in the pastures.
